God had a choice

He had a perfect plan,
But it was not to be.
Even in Eden
He knew what would come;
That the symphony of harmony,
The radiance and camaraderie
Would never last.
Man had a choice,
And man chose death;
Fickle humanity –
Cursed and scarred,
We wreaked havoc

And broke His heart.
He bowed His head in agony,
Watching His treasured ones
Clawing at self-made prisons;
He wept as their blood was spilled,
Grieved at the battered mess,
The heartache of centuries –
A people without hope.
His flawless plan
They tossed aside belligerently.
Yet joy is found in minutes,
And meaning in days:
He slips glimpses of light
Between the years of misery –
For God had a choice too,
And God chose life.
