For just one moment

If I could stop fighting for just one moment,

And breathe in your glory all around –

If I could stop waiting for perfection,

And live this messy imperfection;

Taking these ordinary days,

The twisted tragic trail of broken hearts –

And discover your mystery amid a tangle of traffic

And deadlines screaming for attention;

I know you’re over all of this, the rest is merely trivial,

So if I could stop fighting for just one minute,

I’ll find you in that broken pause –

And even though nothing else is,

Still, you are perfect.
