Not alone

danger
Ilana Reimer photo

The minutes slip by,

Each second stripping away the lie,

I thought I was alone,

If I’d only known –

When I shattered my protection

Turns out there’s still redemption;

Tear off the armor, watch it burn,

Someday now maybe I’ll learn

I’ve stopped hiding behind a metal shield,

Now I’m a target in a wide open field

My barriers are overthrown,

But at last I truly know: I’m not alone.
