Fingers round my heart

Your fingers curve around my heart,
Squeezing slowly, and it hurts;
Each frustration, every stumbling block,
Forming little dents and new-made shapes
In my war-torn heart;
Some heal wounds,
Others make the scars I need to bear,
Tough lessons, teaching me,
Through grease stains and bitter black-outs,
That my own attempts will only break me,
But it’s Your shaping that can make me whole.

      Wow, thank you. It is about the struggles we go through in life that feel so horrible at the time, but we later realize that they have shaped us and taught us.

          Yes, I think it’s a good thing that we don’t have a choice in the matter, or else we’d miss out on life’s greatest lessons. :)

            I was just reading about you on your blog – Persuasion is my favourite book by Jane Austen too! I feel it is one of her little-talked about gems.
